By 1st May, all Singapore residents will be able to choose from various electricity retailers as part of the Open Electricity Market initiative. This was launched on 1st November and is rolling out in phases islandwide in four geographical areas. If you're looking for a green electricity provider, this is the event for you!

In this session organised by Climate Conversations and Green Drinks (Singapore), learn about green energy options available to residential consumers, and find out more about its retailers. Join us in this discussion about transitioning to green energy!

About Our Panellists

Jane Tay
Jane oversees the product development for the Open Electricity Market. Prior to joining Sunseap, Jane was in the training and development industry specialising in leadership, personal development and communication programs for corporations and individuals. A former entrepreneur, Jane brings with her extensive experience in business and product development, marketing, system development and operations.

Jane aims to greenify the environment through the adoption of solar energy, to create a sustainable future for our next generations and wildlife, something that’s close to her heart.

Quek Leng Chuang
He co-founded Environmental Solutions (Asia) Pte Ltd in 1999, conceptualised and operationalised the vision from a home office to its current manifestation of 2 industrial sites in Tuas, Singapore. He continues to manage the company as one that lives and breathes sustainability, diverting and processing 26,000 MT a year of solid industrial waste from the landfill. A true practitioner in sustainability development goals, and in the conduct of business.

In 2016, he embarked on bold plan to transform the landscape of the electricity retail market in Singapore, started the ES Power brand of Carbon Neutral Electricity, with the noble vision of fighting climate change and poverty through the medium of electricity.

Mr. Quek Leng Chuang holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours) from National University of Singapore and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from University of Leicester.

Russell Marsh
Russell has over 20 years of experience in climate change and renewable energy policy and regulation, and has worked for environment and business organisations, and government in the UK, Australia and now SE Asia.

Prior to moving to Singapore he led a two year project for the Essential Services Commission (ESC) in Victoria, Australia, investigating the economic, social and environmental benefits of distributed generation. The project set out to identify the benefits of distributed generation, if those benefits could be valued, and whether the energy market rules and broader regulatory framework, allowed for the efficient capture and allocation of any identified value.

From 2009-2015 he was Director of Policy at the Clean Energy Council (CEC) in Australia, the industry association for the renewable energy sector. In 2014 he was the member of an expert panel appointed by the German government to review the work of the world-renowned Potsdam Institute of Climate Research. In 2015 he was the clean energy expert member of an Australian delegation to Germany to participate in expert symposium developing proposals to inform the formal Australian – German dialogue convened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and (then) Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Prior to moving to Australia Russell worked in the UK for a variety of organisations: WWF-UK, Green Alliance, UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy, E3G and the Carbon Trust.

Nilesh Y. Jadhav
Mr Nilesh Y. Jadhav is currently a Senior Scientist and Program Director at ERI@N. He leads the EcoCampus initiative at NTU, which epitomises the combination of R&D, test-bedding and industry collaboration to achieve a high impact clean technology showcase for Singapore and beyond. Before taking over this initiative formally in April 2014, he led the research group on Sustainable Building Technologies at ERI@N. He has been involved in writing the Technology Primers on Smart Grids and Solar Technologies for the National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS) and also was the project lead for developing Singapore’s first Technology Roadmap in the area of Energy Efficient Building Technologies with the Building Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore.
